When I was downtown the other day I shot some pictures of people in hoodies. This guy caught my attention immediately because of the color red.
As I painted I begin to ponder my subject, asking questions about him, imagining his story. Denver has a park across from the Capital Building that has large Grecian columns and fountains, reminding you of great civilizations of the past. I pondered about this man who was sitting under some of those giant columns. (Unemployed, perhaps homeless, poor) I imagined that thousands of years ago another man sat under similar columns in the town square, also unemployed, homeless, and poor. We live in such a different world today in so many ways and yet some things just never change.
