The Autumn
Oil on Canvas
8 x 16
The days are getting shorter, the leaves are changing, the weather is cooling and it’s my favorite time of year. I don’t know if it because my birthday is in October but autumn has always been my season. When I was little it meant shopping for new clothes, playing in the leaves, and trick or treating. As a teenager it was football season, homecoming, and school parties. The changing leaves meant the holidays were just around the corner and there was so much to look forward to.
As I get older, autumn seems to have even more significance. I’m growing older and the season of my life is chaining once again. I love the season that I’m in. My child is no longer a child and my days are my much more my own. I have the time to paint and pursue my personal dreams now. I’m more sure of myself, more confident in who I am as a person. I’m more at peace with myself and with life, this is what comes from growing older. I’m NOT over the hill by any means, I’m just not as young as I once was.
I’m looking forward to this time of my life, I think autumn may be the best season yet.
