abstract figurative painting, angels, supernatural, colorful painting, contemporary artwork

I’ve been on a journey that feels “supernatural” to me.  At times I wonder, how did I get here?  Several years ago I was depressed, lifeless, and bored.  Now, I’m up early in the morning, standing in front of my easel ready to paint–happy and energetic.  It all began with a dream…

Have you ever seen the movie “Miracle on 34th Street”?  A very young Natalie Wood has been raised by her mother not to believe in fairy tales, miracles, or Santa Claus.  Then they meet a very kind gentleman with a long beard and some amazing abilities.  Natalie is trying to believe in him but has her doubts.  She puts him to the test by asking him for a house.  Christmas comes and there’s nothing under the tree (a key) so she leaves the party disappointed.  In the car she keeps saying these word:  “I believe, I believe, it’s silly but I believe.”    That’s my favorite line in the movie!!

There are things that I hope for and believe for and although my rational mind says it silly, my spirit says “Yes, keep believing!”  How do you find yourself experiencing miracles?  BELIEVE!!

Some people may say I’m crazy, but that’s okay.  I rather live in a world filled with magic and amazement than in a world without.

  1. You have the gift of story telling like your grandmother (mother?) and the poetic ability to say what you feel. You’re blessed in many ways. This is a wonderful painting Shelby!

    • Karen, thank you so much for commenting. I’ve had kind of a rough week and your words really encouraged me.
