Hello! Remember me? It’s been months since I’ve posted, since I’ve painted, but we’re finally resettled in New York City!! Within a few days of being in the city, we found the perfect apartment in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. We love it! It’s a 4-story walk-up and we’re on the top floor so we’re getting lots of exercise! It has exposed brick, high ceilings, wood floors and a beautiful view of Manhattan.

I carved out a small space between the kitchen and living room, right by a window, for a studio space. It works.

I was getting so stressed about not being able to paint for so long. Honestly, I thought I would completely forget how to! When I stepped up to the easel, I was nervous, but apparently, it’s like riding a bike. I can’t tell you how happy I was to complete my first painting of 2016!

We’ve been getting to know our neighborhood a bit and looking for ways to meet people. It’s all about starting over and building community from scratch. and that feels overwhelming. Every artist I see is so young, will I ever find my tribe?

So, yeah, I’m a little overwhelmed and it’s going to be a challenge to make this home, but I’m already in love with New York and our new apartment. I think this is going to be the best decision we ever made.

If you enjoyed the people in Denver and thought they were wonderful, I’m sure you’ll find more of the same in New York City. God bless you and may your roots go deep into the soil there.
