Deep Desire

abstract, oil painting, orange, excitement, colorful painting, vivid, contemporary artwork, urban, Everyone has a deep desire hidden within.  A desire to be loved unconditionally, to be someone important, to do something great, or maybe it’s to experience something wonderful.  We have these longings that we wish for…hope for… but, what do we do about them?  Do we sit and wait for our deep desires to come to us?  I use to think so.  Someday my prince will come, someday I’m going to be an artist, someday I’m going to travel the world…someday.

Waiting and hoping won’t get us one step closer to seeing our desires manifest.  At some point, we have to start moving towards the thing we long for.  If you want to be an artist, you have to start creating art, taking classes, throwing paint on a canvas.  If you have a novel in you, you have to sit down and start writing.  Action is the key word.

When I turned 40 I had a major midlife crisis and I realized there were so many things that I had planned to do that I hadn’t done.  Life was passing by so quickly and I had to ask the question:  When am I going to start living?

I started moving towards my desires and with the help of a wonderful life coach. I started seeing ways in which I could start making reality of what I had only dreamed of.  She opened my heart and mind to possibilities and opportunities that I would have missed without her. Why, because  I was just waiting for something to happen to me instead of reaching out for what could be mine.

If you have something you want desperately, take courage, no matter what stage of life you’re in.  Open your heart and mind to the opportunities and start moving (even in small ways) towards your dream.  Soon, you’ll find yourself living a whole new life!

  1. Great article and something I can relate to as well. I was a little older when I realized I had not pursued something still deep in my heart and picked up the paint brush again at 57!

    • Thanks, Terri! I know, at first all I could do is think about all the regrets I had for not starting sooner. Now, I’m just so happy I started painting when I did. There’s plenty of good years ahead for us!!!

    • Teresa, how sweet you are! I’m so happy that you’ve found inspiration and encouragement here! We all need it from time to time, don’t we?
