Painting has been so much fun this past week! I’m finally getting back into the groove and trying some new things.  I’ve begun a series that I’m calling the “I” series.  I’ve spent some time focusing on tribes, community, groups of people, which I believe is an important part of our lives.  The other side of the coin is the individual, the one, the unique person.

I’m an “only” child and so individualism is something I’m probably more acquainted with than the group dynamic, even though I’m a social person.  As an “only” child, I spent a lot of time with myself.  Entertaining myself, talking to myself, reading, thinking, all in my own made-up world.  I was an imaginative child, you have to be when you spend time alone.  I had an imaginary friend named, Susie.  She came in quite handy when I needed someone to blame for something I did,  like using crayons all over my bedroom wall!  I talked to her all the time, she was a loyal companion and a great artist.

Having a great imagination is a wonderful gift.  It takes us to magical place and allows us to do amazing things.  I’m glad I had the time to develop mine when I was a little girl.

This is part of a series that looks great hanging together.  Stay tuned for more to come!
